Kilburn assault appeal

Detectives in Brent borough have released CCTV footage of a man they would like to speak to in connection with a serious assault in Kilburn.

On Saturday, 24 September at 03:40hrs, a 72-year-old man was attacked by a man on Canterbury Road, NW6.

The suspect, armed with a metal litter picker, hit the victim several times around the face and head before he fell to the ground.

The victim was taken to a north London hospital suffering from head injuries and has since been discharged.

CCTV footage captures the moment the suspect leaves the scene ten minutes after the incident took place.

The suspect is described as a black man of stocky build, wearing a checked shirt, blue jeans and dark trainers at the time of the incident.

Detective Inspector Linda Bradley, from Brent CID, said: "This was a horrendous and sustained attack on an elderly man. We are keen to trace the man in the CCTV footage so we can speak to them about the incident. We would also urge anyone who witnessed the incident to contact us."

No arrests have been made and enquiries continue.
