LATEST: Arrest made following 2016 Shepherds Bush murder

Detectives investigating the murder of a man in Shepherds Bush last October have made an arrest.

A 23-year-old man [G] was arrested today, Thursday, 24 August on suspicion of the murder of Ionut Lazar after attending a London police station.

He has been released under investigation whilst enquiries continue.

Ionut, 28, was fatally shot at an address in Askew Road, W12 on 22 October 2016 - two days after he arrived in the UK.

Police were called by London Ambulance Service at around 02:40hrs to reports of a male unconscious.

Ionut was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. He died at the scene a short while later.

A post-mortem examination on 24 October 2016 at Fulham Mortuary gave the cause of death as a bullet wound to the chest.

= On Thursday, 10 August four men - [A], [D], [E] and [F] - were acquitted of the murder and robbery of Ionut Lazar at the Old Bailey.

Two other males aged 17 [B] and 16 [C] arrested in October on suspicion of murder were both released with no further action.
