A Lewisham PC has been cleared of gross misconduct for allegedly assaulting his partner.
PC Ben Cowen faced a public hearing yesterday, Monday, 9 April to answer allegations that his conduct amounted to a breach of the standards of professional behaviour in respect of discreditable conduct.
On 14 July 2016, it was alleged that whilst off-duty PC Cowen assaulted his partner at his home address and shouted at him that he was going to kill him.
On 19 October 2016, PC Cowen was convicted of assault in relation to this incident at Bexley Magistrates' Court, however the ruling was successfully appealed on 6 January 2017 at Woolwich Crown Court.
The panel concluded that gross misconduct was not proven.
The officer will now resume full duties.
