Male charged with terrorism offences

A teenager arrested by the Met Police Counter Terrorism Command has been charged with terrorism offences.

The 17-year-old male from east London [C] was yesterday (Tuesday, 16 January) charged with one count of dissemination of terrorist material contrary to section two of the Terrorism Act 2006 and two counts of doing an act encouraging or enabling another to commit an offence, contrary to section 44(1) of the Serious Crime Act.

He has been bailed to appear at Westminster Youth Court on 25 January.

On 25 October 2017, at approximately 07.20hrs, detectives investigating the suspected dissemination of terrorist material arrested a 17-year-old male from east London on suspicion of dissemination of terrorist material at approximately 07.20hrs.

He was detained under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE) and subsequently charged as above.
