A man arrested by detectives from the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command has been bailed to return to a Sussex police station in late August.
Officers arrested the 51-year-old man at Gatwick Airport on Wednesday, 24 July, at approximately 19:40hrs, on suspicion of preparation of terrorist acts, contrary to section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006.
Officers at the airport conducted a Schedule 7 port stop and subsequently arrested the man. He was taken into custody at a Sussex police station and today released on bail.
Enquiries are ongoing.
This is not linked to a UK-based threat or threat to the airport.
