Man charged with three counts of terrorism offences

A man arrested by the Met's Counter Terrorism Command on Tuesday, 8 August has been charged.

Zana Abbas Sulieman, 26 (01.01.91) of north-west London was charged on Tuesday, 15 August as follows:

= Count One: On 7 August 2017 was in possession of a record containing information of a kind likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism, contrary to section 58(1)(b) of the Terrorism Act 2000.

= Count Two: On 4 August 2017 distributed a terrorist publication, by posting a 16-page Islamic State magazine on Facebook which was likely to be understood by some or all members of the public to whom it was disseminated as a direct encouragement by them to the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism and at the time of doing so intended them to be so encouraged or was reckless as to whether they would be so encouraged. Contrary to section 2(1) of the Terrorism Act 2006.

= Count Three: On 7 August 2017 distributed a terrorist publication, by posting a video on Facebook which was likely to be understood by some or all members of the public to whom it was disseminated as a direct encouragement by them to the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism and at the time of doing so intended them to be so encouraged or was reckless as to whether they would be so encouraged. Contrary to section 2(1) of the Terrorism Act 2006.

He was detained to appear in custody at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, 16 August where he was remanded to appear at the Old Bailey on 1 September.
