[Jailed]: Daniel Tournay

A man has been jailed after a knife assault which left his victim needing 20 stitches.

Daniel Tournay, 25, (23.07.92) of no fixed abode was jailed for three years on Tuesday, 10 April, after being found guilty of GBH at Kingston Crown Court.

The court heard how Tournay had been staying at an address in Hampton in October 2017.

On 19 October, Tournay had become involved in an argument with the victim, a 28-year-old man, who was also staying at the address. The argument, which began inside the address, escalated into a violent confrontation in Dean Street, Hampton.

During this incident, Tournay slashed the victim down the left side of his face with a Stanley knife.

Police and London Ambulance Service were called and the victim was taken to hospital - his wound required 20 stitches.

Tournay was arrested at the scene after being found hiding in a front garden. The knife used in the attack was also found in a flower bed in the garden.

Detective Constable Dave Tucker of Kingston Police said:"Tournay viciously attacked his victim with a knife, causing a horrific injury - it is only by sheer luck that this assault did not have more serious consequences.

"What started out as a verbal dispute, quickly escalated into violence. This once again demonstrates the damage that can be caused when people choose to arm themselves with knives and use them to inflict injury."
