Murder investigation launched in Harrow

A murder investigation launched after a man assaulted in Harrow last month later died.

Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command are now investigating after 81-year-old Amirali Manji - assaulted on Sunday, 29 November - died on Thursday, 3 December. Next of kin are aware.

A post-mortem examination on Monday, 07 December found the cause of death to be head injuries.

On Sunday, 29 November police were called shortly before 11:00hrs by the London Ambulance Service to reports of an assault at an address in Kingshill Drive, Harrow.

Officers attended and found Mr Manji suffering from critical injuries consistent with an assault. He was taken to a north London hospital in a critical condition where he later died.

A 44-year-old man was arrested and charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and is currently remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on 29 January 2016.

The investigation is being led by Detective Chief Inspector Joe Daly from the Homicide and Major Crime Command.
