Murder investigation launched in Islington

A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a man in Islington.

At approximately 18:50hrs on Thursday, 24 August officers in the area of Mitchison Road, N1 were informed by a member of the public that a man had been stabbed.

Officers found a 27-year-old man injured. The London Ambulance Service was called and the man was taken to an east London hospital where he died at 02:30hrs on Friday, 25 August. Next of kin have been informed.

Whilst officers believe they know who the deceased is they await a formal identification. A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.

Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating.
