A police officer has been dismissed following a special case hearing which concluded on Friday, 31 May.
PC Romulus Coita, attached to the South Area Command Unit, was found to have breached the standards of professional behaviour in respect of ‘discreditable conduct’, ‘honesty and integrity’ and ‘orders and instructions’.
The hearing heard how in October 2018 PC Coita was arrested for a domestic assault. Following his arrest he failed to abide by the condition of his police bail. In the ensuing investigation it came to light that PC Coita had made a false declaration in relation to his criminal history when he joined the Metropolitan Police Service.
The chair of the hearing found the allegations proven as gross misconduct. PC Coita was dismissed without notice.
