Just before 2045hrs on Wednesday, 25 March, officers from the Met’s Operation Venice Command stopped a wanted offender who attempted to flee the scene on a moped.

The officers used tactical contact to stop the suspect.

Whilst on patrol earlier in the day, officers spotted the suspect driving dangerously in Trafalgar Square.

Officers attempted to stop him, but he mounted the pavement and drove his moped at police officers - who discharged their Taser, however, the suspect fled the scene by driving up an alley way.

Later in the evening, officers spotted the same driver in the vicinity of Notting Hill Gate.

Officers pursued the suspect where he stopped on Gloucester Terrace. As officers tried to speak to him, he tried to make off again by mounting the pavement.

Using their vehicle, the Op Venice officers used tactical contact to stop him getting away.

A Taser was also discharged.

The suspect – aged 24 - was arrested for failing to stop for police (at Trafalgar Square) and dangerous driving. He was also further arrested for being in breach of a court order, driving whilst disqualified, and wanted for assault on an emergency worker from a previous offence.
