Police appeal for information following Newham shooting

Detectives from the Met's Trident and Area Crime Command are appealing for information following a shooting in the North Woolwich area of Newham.

Police were called at around 22:20hrs on Monday, 31 July to reports of gunshots heard in the area of Woodman Street, E16.

Officers attended and found a 25-year-old man suffering facial injuries and a gunshot wound to the torso.

He was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

Enquiries into the circumstances of the shooting are ongoing. At this early stage, it is believed that the victim was shot by a suspect in a vehicle which then sped off.

There have been no arrests at this time.
