An officer has been cleared of allegedly stealing from a supermarket at a special case hearing, held yesterday, Wednesday, 12 April.

PC Peter Doorey, attached to Southwark borough faced allegations that his conduct amounted to a breach of the standards of professional behaviour in respect of honesty and integrity and discreditable conduct.

It was alleged that on Sunday, 12 March 2017, the officer selected goods from a supermarket, scanned them through a self-service till but left before paying for them.

A criminal case was presented to the Crown Prosecution Service who decided not to proceed.

After viewing the CCTV footage and hearing the evidence put before the Chair, it was concluded the allegations were not proven.

The officer will now resume full duties.
