Police name Clerkenwell collision victim

Detectives have named a man who died following a fatal collision in Clerkenwell.

Although formal identification has yet to take place, detectives are satisfied that the deceased is Jonathan Byrne Ollivier, 38, from Northampton.

Police were called at 11:11hrs on Sunday, 9 August, to Farringdon Road, EC1 following reports of a black Mercedes saloon in collision with motorcycle.

Officers, London Ambulance Service and London's Air Ambulance attended. The 38-year-old male rider of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:53hrs.

The driver who stopped at the scene was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is currently in custody at a central London police station.

He has since been bailed to a date in February 2016.

Next of kin have been informed.

A post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.

Road closures currently remain in place.

Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Alperton are investigating. They are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed or may have information regarding the collision.
