Detectives in Islington continue to appeal for information and witnesses after a couple out watching football in a pub were punched in the face.

The assault happened at approximately 14:30hrs on 10 September 2016 after the couple were attacked by a man in the Millers Public House on Caledonian Road in Islington.

Sharron Wilson, 45, suffered a swollen right eye and his 46-year-old wife, Deborah, suffered a facial injury as a result of the attack.

Following the attack, the victims called police and both subsequently attended hospital. Mr Wilson sustained serious injuries to his eye; Mrs Wilson was not seriously injured.

Detectives from Islington CID are investigating.

At this stage of the investigation it is understood Mr and Mrs Wilson were watching the Manchester United vs Manchester City football match in the pub. At around 14:30hrs they decided to leave, when a male became verbally abusive. He then punched them both in the face, before walking out of the pub.

Officers have released a still image from CCTV of the incident of the man that they wish to identify and speak to regarding the attack.

Detective Constable Adrian Safiani from Islington CID leads the investigation. He said: "This was a horrible assault on what should have been a relaxing and enjoyable afternoon out.

"Sharron Wilson now suffers from visual impairment after having a titanium plate fitted to his eye socket.

"We are keen to hear from anyone who may recognise the male in the image or anyone who witnessed the incident."
