Statement re: the Met's review of the structure of staff associations.
Chief Supt Victor Olisa, said:
"The Metropolitan Police Service values the hugely important work of all of our staff associations, and the support that they provide to officers and staff from a wide range of backgrounds. Also, the positive part they play in ensuring the MPS delivers a fair service to all Londoners.
"A review of the structure of staff associations has been carried out, and this includes how unions, the Police Federation and Superintendents' Association staff work as well.
"What the MPS needs to ensure is that there is equality in how all our nineteen staff associations operate, and that they are run in a similar manner to ensure fairness to all those who volunteer. Of course, in the current economic climate the MPS must also be mindful of achieving best value for London.
"The MPS looks forward to continuing the constructive and critically independent relationship with all staff associations."
