Two women injured following collision, Leyton

Police are appealing for witnesses after a fail to stop collision in Leyton left two women critically injured.

Officers were called at approximately 05:45hrs on Sunday, 15 January to reports of two pedestrians injured following a collision in Lea Bridge Road, junction with Orient Way, E10.

The collision occurred as the women were crossing Lea Bridge Road - a red Range Rover Evoque struck them as they made their way across the eastbound carriageway.

London Ambulance Service attended and the pedestrians - both women, aged 42 and 29 - were taken to hospital; they both remain there in a critical condition.

The car did not stop at the scene but was subsequently traced to an address in Walthamstow.

Two people - a man, 28, and a woman, 29, - were arrested on suspicion of GBH and failing to stop at the scene of an accident; both remain in custody.

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit based at Chadwell Heath investigate and appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision, or the events leading up to or after the collision, to contact them.
