Investing in our communities during 2015

Blog post   •   Feb 18, 2016 08:00 GMT

Once again, we had an amazing year when it came to supporting the communities where we operate last year. 32% of our colleagues in the UK and Ireland gave 6000 hours of their time, skills and expertise to charities that needed it the most. Through team challenges in school playgrounds to mentoring young people, our colleagues donned their purple volunteer t-shirts with pride! They also raised over £250k for charities close to their hearts, through cake sales to skydives, which the business matched through its cashmatch programme.

It was also a year to celebrate as The Cadbury Foundation turned 80 on June 19th and in 2015 over £600k was donated to good causes across the UK&I, including partners such as The British Paralympic Association, Paralympics Ireland, Help for Heroes and The Princes Trust.

Our £3 million Health for Life programme was again awarded a ‘Big Tick’ award from BiTC and has now reached over 50,000 pupils and over 100,000 adults in the South Birmingham area. It was lovely to see our Year 4 schools collect their Health for Life certificates to celebrate their achievements and share their successes with other schools.

It’s a real privilege to work with these amazing colleagues and community partners and in 2015 we achieved an awful amount. I can’t wait to see what we achieve in 2016 and we have an exciting year in store with the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio, our Health for Life show garden at Gardeners World Live and lots more charities to support through The Cadbury Foundation. It’s definitely going to be an exciting one!
