Mondelēz International has been recognised for its continuing positive impact on local communities and for making a positive difference to the environment at the Business in the Community Responsible Business Awards 2016.

Mondelēz International achieved the ‘Building Stronger Communities’ reaccreditation for its Health for Life in primary schools programme recognising partnerships between businesses and community organisations, where businesses have worked with a community partner to identify and address a key social issue.

Funded by the Mondelēz International Foundation, and delivered by the Health Education Service, in conjunction with Life Education Centres West Midlands, the Health for Life in primary schools programme is designed to support teachers, school children and their parents across South Birmingham to lead healthy lifestyles through cooking, food growing and physical activity. Since its launch in 2011, the Health for Life in primary schools programme has reached 107 primary schools in the city involving 34,369 pupils and reaching 93,807 adults, including school staff and families.

Kelly Farrell, Community Affairs Manager at Mondelēz International, said: “We are delighted to receive reaccreditation status for our Health for Life in primary schools programme with our community partners at the Health Education Service.”

Mondelēz International also achieved the ‘Unilever International Award’ reaccreditation for its Cocoa Life sustainability program recognising businesses that can demonstrate positive impact against one or more of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals.

Last year, Mondelēz published its first progress report on Cocoa Life, which highlights the wide-ranging impact and efforts to date across its six cocoa-growing origins: Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Indonesia, Dominican Republic, India and Brazil. Since its inception in 2012 to the end of 2015, Cocoa Life reached 76,700 farmers in nearly 800 communities, establishing a strong foundation and framework for the program.
