Postal voters in Moray urged to return votes as soon as possible

POSTAL voters in Moray are being urged to return their vote for the General Election as soon as possible.

Almost 15,000 postal voting packs have been issued to all those in Moray who successfully registered to vote by post for next week’s election. So far, around 40% of these have been returned.

While votes aren’t counted until after the polls close at 10pm on 12 December, election staff have to check the information accompanying each postal vote individually, making sure voters’ details are correctly entered. This can be done as soon as votes are returned to the elections office.

Incorrect or incomplete information can invalidate a postal vote, so voters are urged to take time in completing it correctly, ensuring their date of birth is entered and not the date of signing – and ensuring the form is filled out completely, using a black pen. If you have more than one postal voter in the house, make sure you have signed your own voting pack.
