Apple Gets Sued Again, This Time it’s Siri

Apple has been smashed in court again, but this time it’s Siri that is to blame. ‘She’ has caused a patent infringement from Dynamic Advances. The firm has claimed to have exclusive license over the technology by Rensselear Polytechnic Institute, which owns the rights to the voice activation technology. Apple, however, has made an incredible amount of money from the Siri voice control on its iPhone 4S and now the iPhone 5.

This ruling in court has been marred with controversy as the original judge assigned to the case actually has shares in Apple and has since stood down. He stated that it wouldn’t have been fair to carry on as judge in this case as there would be reasonable grounds to state foul play from Dynamic Advances LLC. And, in further news, the firm was only set up last year by a patent leech called Erich Spangenberg, who regularly sues first before trying to come to a common ground. At the moment, no one is quite sure if Apple will contest the patent infringement with its huge patent lawyers but if they do, Erich could be in deep water and could have bitten off more than he can chew.

The technology allows Apple users to control their 4S or iPhone 5 by their voice. From searching to scrolling maps, to reading out text messages and sending images via their voice, there is a new meaning to hands-free technology. The intuitive Siri technology saps the battery life and uses up lots of data but the results are fairly incredible when compared to other voice activation controls from the Android side. However, as with most of Apple’s court appearances the technology isn’t always as it seems and if Dynamic Advances LLC is correct then it shows Apple in another light of stealing people’s ideas without a care in the world and profiting heavily from them. Not a good sign of a legitimate business.

If you want to steer clear of Apple’s odd history of abusing patents and spending more money on court cases than the devices that they sell, then why not try a different manufacturer? There are many surveys online that show the best mobile phone that is available and often it’s not from Apple.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 or Samsung Galaxy S3 are generally regarded as the best mobile phones available to buy. With that in mind, it’s a good idea to compare mobile phone contracts so that you can get the best deal. Yes, the Note2 has just been launched but the Galaxy SIII has been out for 5 months and with Christmas around the corner retailers are trying to offer even better deals on mobile phones so that more people buy them.

If you’re not one for a contract then why not check out the SIM free smartphones or PAYG SIM cards. At the mobile phone checker site you can find great deals on SIM free handsets and PAYG SIM cards.
