Apps in the Apple App Store have now surpassed 900,000, giving the Cupertino firm the right to call themselves “the world’s largest app marketplace.” This means more games, books, tools, music, and movies for iPhones (for more iPhone 5 info click here) and iPads (for more iPad 4G info click here).
Apple announced this milestone achievement during its iOS 7 launch. In a press release (to see press release click here), Apple announced, “With over 900,000 apps, the App Store is the world’s largest app marketplace. iOS 7 now features Popular Apps Near Me, a new way to find apps based on your current location, and iOS 7 will automatically keep your apps up to date. The App Store also comes with a new Kids category, allowing teachers and parents to easily discover apps for children by age.”
With nearly a million apps in the App Store, we’re wondering if smaller app marketplaces such as Blackberry World will ever be able to compete.
