Blackberry previously announced that it would making BBM (Blackberry Messenger) available to Android handsets such as the Samsung Galaxy S4 (see more on Samsung Galaxy S4 here) and iOS handsets such as the Apple iPhone 5 (see more on the Apple iPhone 5 here). The IM was once exclusive to handsets such as the Blackberry Q10 (see more on the Blackberry Q10 here). Sadly, no release date was mentioned.
To everyone’s excitement, T-Mobile announced on its Twitter account, “Great news - BlackBerry Messenger will be available to download on iOS and Android from June 27th!” Sadly, this date was inaccurate.
Blackberry told PCMag (see statement here), “While there have been reports that BBM will be available to iOS and Android on June 27th, this is not accurate. We will communicate an update as soon as we have an availability date to share.”
On Twitter (see it here), T-Mobile said, “Sorry folks, we got over-excited about the BBM app coming to Android/iOS. No specific availability date yet.”
