We’re all blind-sighted by the iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S3 that Nokia, Motorola, Apple, Samsung, HTC and all of the major manufacturers could be side-swiped by Oppo. Oppo is a Chinese manufacturer, and remember where most smartphones are made, that makes the Find 5. Although the phone will be launched in November, if it is distributed around the globe it could well cause a huge upset for Apple and Samsung, as it’s better than anything they have released! Fact!
In a phablet sort of way, the 6.65mm thick device is insanely thin and the screen is a massive 5”. It looks remarkably different to other smartphones on the market and it has a white rear case and a black front. This switch of colours adds to the differences and makes it look like a ‘next generation’ smartphone, which it essentially is. One thing is for certain when you hear the spec sheet, you’ll be begging the Chinese firm to release in the UK and USA.
The slick looks and 3mm bezel add to the phone’s ability to raise eyebrows. As it has HSPA capabilities it does mean that it would work with UK carriers, and it comes with LTE 4G so when 4G is finally released it will run on that too. With the HTC Butterfly J being released in December, which is the only phone to come close to the Oppo Find 5, it could spell an end to the Samsung and Apple fanclubs.
Let’s take a look at the specifications of the Oppo Find 5: it’s massive screen is 1280 x 1080 of full HD and has a pixel per inch ratio of 441, more than any other phone out there. Even the new HTC has 440ppi and that beats the competition by around 100ppi. Running on the ultra-impressive Qualcomm quad-core processor which is clocked at 1.5GHz and having 2GB RAM it’s more than enough to make Apple and Samsung wake up and rethink their smartphones. Running on the new 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system and having a 2,500mAh battery as well as a 12.1MP camera it has everything that you could want and possibly more. To save all of your images, files and apps it has a choice between 16GB and 32GB.
In short, it sounds very achievable and it is very enticing thinking that there is finally another manufacturer other than the usual suspects. While there are iPhone 5 offers and Samsung Galaxy S3 deals around, you’re still going to pay north of £30pm. If you were to buy them outright it will be £550+ but there are already talks of the Oppo Find 5 being around £399, which is incredible news. If the Oppo Find 5 comes to the UK with its funky new looks and amazing feature list you’d be mad not to give it a thought.
