North London-based Wembley Windows has won a major contract to install 150 A-rated PVC-U windows at the Menorah High School for Girls in Brent.

The installation formed part of a major renovation of a former 1950s building in North London that will eventually be used as classrooms.

The existing steel framed windows in the building were beginning to rust, which meant that they required a high level of ongoing maintenance.

Poor thermal performance of the windows was also causing a concern for the management team at the school as it would have resulted in cold, uncomfortable classrooms, along with expensive heating bills.

Wembley Windows recommended A-rated windows fabricated using the Eurologik profile system from Eurocell as it met the school’s brief for low maintenance, thermally efficiency and sustainable use of materials.

The company used PVC-U Thermal Inserts to improve the thermal performance of the frame profiles. These are manufactured by Eurocell from 100 percent post consumer recycled PVC-U, often from end of life frames returned from site, providing enhanced levels of sustainability.

Fabricators that use PVC-U Thermal Inserts find it an effective way of securing business because clients like the fact it offers them better value for money A-rated windows, by avoiding the need for more expensive glazing specifications.

The windows at the school were specified internally glazed to ensure that if any double-glazed units required replacing in the future, it could be done safely and quickly from inside the building. Wembley Windows recommended the use of self-cleaning glass, again to reduce ongoing maintenance costs for the school.

Erez Fogel, who joint owns Wembley Windows with his sister Gaby, said: “We were selected for this project because we are a specialist window company with a great deal of experience in the education sector, having recently completed nine other school refits. The product range and service offered by Eurocell is an essential part of helping us win business in this sector.”

Wembley Windows was established in 1984 by Erez’s father Ori Fogel and has built up a strong reputation for quality and customer service across North London. Originally based in Wembley, it moved to larger premises in Staples Corner in 1994, where it continues to manufacture windows, doors and conservatories.

The company has an in-house installation team and backs all its work with a 10 year guarantee.
