Comparing Screens And Processors On The Samsung Galaxy S3 And Apple iPhone 4S

The Samsung Galaxy S3 has only been available for couple of months, and is already proving to be one of the most popular Android smartphones out there.  The iPhone 4S by Apple is also a very popular handset, and in this article I will compare the screen and processor technology of both handsets.

The touchscreen of the Apple iPhone 4S is widely regarded as one of the best out there.  Named the retina display, it has a resolution of 640x 960, and because such a high pixel density is packed into a small screen measuring just 3.5 inches, this results in a pixel density of 330 PPI.  This means that the naked eye cannot distinguish between individual pixels, and is the reason it is called a retina display.  Because you cannot distinguish individual pixels, it makes for outstanding display quality, whatever you are using the phone for.  The screen on the Samsung Galaxy S3 is considerably larger at 4.8 inches, which is one of the biggest screens available on an Android smartphone.  In order to retain display quality on a larger screen, a pixel resolution of 720x 1280, in conjunction with its HD super AMOLED screen, it offers similarly impressive display quality.

As their respective manufacturer's current flagship smartphones, both the Apple iPhone 4S and the Samsung Galaxy S3 have excellent processors, however they are quite different from each other.  On paper, the Samsung Galaxy S3 comes out on top in this category thanks to a 1.4 GHz quad-core Exynos processor, which makes it one of the most powerful smartphones available in terms of processing power, with only a small number of other handsets boasting quad-core processors.  The Apple iPhone 4S does not have a quad-core processor, although it offers superb performance thanks to a 1 GHz dual-core processor.  Although the Samsung Galaxy S3 is superior in terms of processing power on paper, both of these phones offer some of the best user experiences out there, and each handset showcases the benefits of processors with multiple cores.  These include responsive touchscreens, efficient multitasking and fast download speeds.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Apple iPhone 4S of course offer much more than just their screens and processors.  While the Samsung Galaxy S3 sits at the top of the market thanks to its advanced technology are owing to it being one of the newest smartphones out there, the tables may soon turn as the Apple iPhone 5 is due for release later this year.  Choosing between the iPhone 4S and the Samsung Galaxy S3 will ultimately come down to personal preference, as at the end of the day they are very different smartphones, and equally impressive for different reasons.
