Comparing Touchscreens Of The iPhone 4S And Samsung Galaxy S3

The Apple iPhone 4S is well known for boasting some of the top smartphone features currently available.  In this article, I am going to compare its screen with that of the Samsung Galaxy S3.  The Samsung Galaxy S3 is an example of an Android powered smartphone which is now proving tough competition to devices like the iPhone 4S.  I will compare their screens, as this is often seen as one of the most important features for many people are choosing their next mobile phone.

The Apple iPhone 4S is well known for the quality of its touchscreen.  Its screen is also known as the retina display, and this is due to the fact that the naked eye cannot distinguish between individual pixels on the screen when it is held a certain distance away from one’s face.  The industry leading 330 pixels per inch pixel density is largely responsible for this level of display quality.  The high pixel density is a result of the resolution of 640x 960 being packed into the relatively small confines of the 3.5 inch screen.  While the screen is smaller than many competing smartphones by comparison, it clearly makes up for this then display quality.  The iPhone 4S utilises LED-backlit IPS touchscreen technology which provides excellent colour rendering, wide viewing angles and consistent brightness.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is a much larger handset and the iPhone 4S on account of its 4.7 inch screen, which is immediately noticeable when comparing these two handsets.  Like its popular predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S2 (one of the most popular Android smartphones of all time), the screen utilises Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen technology, which has similar benefits to that of the IPS capacitive screen of the iPhone 4S.  Aside from the size difference between the two screens, one of the major differences is there resolution.  The Samsung Galaxy S3 has a resolution of 720x 1280 which creates a high definition display; although the pixel density is lower than that of the iPhone 4S on account of this screen being much larger.

When choosing between these two phones based on their screens, it is likely to come down to personal preference for either the superior display quality of the Apple iPhone 4S, or the larger dimensions of the screen of the Samsung Galaxy S3.  Obviously, there is much more to each of these phones, but as you can see they both for excellent touchscreens.
