The HTC One continues to hit headlines in the mobile phone business on account of its impressive sales figures and critical acclaim. Despite the widely reported production issues leading to stock shortages ahead of its launch, the handset has so far clocked up more than 5 million sales.
It is fully expected that the HTC One will continue to be a bestseller throughout the rest of the year, that there have been a number of rumours about a new version of the phone being launched later in 2013. Several months ago, rumours of a device called the HTC M4 began to surface, and recently the phone has been confirmed as the HTC One Mini. Like the Samsung Galaxy S4, it is expected that the handset will be a smaller, lower spec but more affordable version of the company's newest flagship Android phone. Key features of the HTC One Mini are rumoured to include a 4.3 inch 720p touchscreen, dual-core processor, 4 Ultrapixel camera, 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage. The phone is also rumoured to include the same software package as its flagship counterpart, in the form of the Android 4.2.2 Jellybean OS in conjunction with HTC Sense 5.0 user interface.
The HTC One Mini is still awaiting an official announcement from the Taiwan based manufacturer. However, HTC Source has recently reported on a new set of leaked images of the phone which have been doing the rounds online. The photos show several close-ups of the device, with some showing it side by side with its full sized HTC One counterpart, showing a considerable difference in size. The website has reported that the phone will be launched in August, with a SIM-free price tag of around €400 (around £255). Of course, this price refers to the SIM free model but we expect the handset to be offered on a pay monthly basis, and the majority of UK networks are likely to carry the HTC One Mini given the success of the HTC One.
With a rumoured August released, we expect an official
announcement for the HTC One Mini in the coming weeks, and be sure to keep you
posted with the latest rumours and updates as well as the best HTC One contract offers.
