HTC One not getting Android 4.2.2 update – to jump to Android 4.3

An HTC executive has announced that the HTC One smartphone will not be updated to Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean). Instead, the smartphone will jump to Android 4.3.

The HTC in question is Jason Mackenzie, the Taiwanese firm’s president of global sales. Mackenzie announced on Twitter, “Lots of questions re 4.3 release for One. We r wrking hard (needs cert) to release 4.3 across all US, Canada skus by end Sept. DNA as well.”

This is undoubtedly good news for owners of the HTC One in the US. However, what about the European version? Sadly, it wasn’t mentioned when the update would be rolling out to its flagship in Europe. We can only hope that HTC rolls out the update at the same time it rolls out the update in the US or at least soon after.

Eager to find out when Android 4.3 will be available to your HTC One handset? We’ll keep you updated once an official announcement is made.
