iCloud Stretched to 25GB For Some

News   •   Oct 02, 2012 07:00 BST

The launch of iOS6 and the iPhone 5 has really made a change in the smartphone world, and it’s not just Android, Samsung and Google that has had to have a rethink. Online storage companies, such as Dropbox, Ubuntu, Google itself, and others now have to compete with the iCloud from Apple. You can now get 25GB of free online storage for your Apple device.

It seems strange but some people’s storage accounts were upgraded without them paying extra, doing anything or getting in touch with Apple, so it seems that Apple is giving stuff away again. Last time they did that was when they screwed up their online services, and now with the Google Maps debacle it seems they are giving away free storage. If you have an iPhone 5 already or are still using a 4S then check your iOS device and select iCloud then check your account. You will notice that you have a free 20 or 25GB storage upgrade, and if you’re a MobileMe subscriber then you will have that storage account until 2050! Thirty-eight years of 25GB storage; let’s see who remembers.

While it could be a bug in the system -  so we should keep this quiet right? – you can add another 5GB to your plan in the same part of your iOS device. We’re sure that Apple knows what it is doing or what is happening, but just in case it doesn’t upgrade now and snap up the great deal on iCloud storage.

Some people seem to struggle to log onto their iCloud but if it works for you, or if you’re looking at iPhone 5 deals and are concerned about not buying the 64GB device and will plumb for the 32GB then this extra upgrade will really help. For most people

Some people seem to struggle to log onto their iCloud but if it works for you, or if you’re looking at iPhone 5 deals and are concerned about not buying the 64GB device and will plumb for the 32GB then this extra upgrade will really help. For most people, downloading videos, games and apps fills up the non-upgradeable storage on your iPhone so it’s a good idea to use an online storage of some sort, especially if you’re clumsy and need to back up your phone in case you break it.

The iPhone 5 has been widely received and loved already. In just 24 hours it sold 2 million handsets and that trounces last year’s 4S that only managed 1 million in the same time frame. You’ll notice that Samsung were making waves a few months back when they sold 20 million handsets in just a few weeks, but we guess that Apple will be showing off some serious sales figures on January 1st. If iPhone 5 deals are on your to-buy list you will notice that many are available with money off or free gifts. You can also order it so it will come in time for Christmas; it’s set to be the number one Christmas present of 2012!
