Labour Party: "Government should concentrate on maintaining the fall in crime and ASB instead of forcing through these unpopular changes" - Johnson

Shadow Home Secretary Alan Johnson MP responding to a report by the Association of Police Authorities that directly elected police commissioners will cost £100m more than the current system, said:



“At the same time as they inflict the most savage cut police have ever faced they insist on spending £100m – the equivalent of 600 police officers – on this dangerous and destructive organisational upheaval.

“The Government should be concentrating on maintaining the fall in crime and anti social behaviour instead of forcing through these unpopular changes”.
