LG confirms ‘working on’ Windows Phone 8-powered handsets

Currently, LG’s smartphone lineup consists of Android-powered handsets such as the Optimus G, with no sign of any Windows Phone 8-powered handset. Although it hasn’t released any handset running Microsoft’s mobile OS, this doesn’t mean it has abandoned the platform. It has confirmed that it is “working on” Windows Phone 8 handsets.

Light Reading India reports Soon H Kwon, Managing Director at LG India, saying, “At home (South Korea), we are actually working on our Windows Phone 8 OS powered smartphone.”

He adds, “Android is the major platform globally, given its acceptance and penetration. Although, we believe that Windows will pick up going ahead, as Microsoft is pumping efforts into it.”

Although Kwon confirmed LG was working on Windows Phone 8 handsets, he did not mention when to expect their arrival. We’re just going to have to wait for an official announcement from the Korean firm.
