Mecel Populus in innovative EV solution

HMI design made easy. Tight schedule, late changes, but still reliable behavior and great look and feel. That is the usual challenge for automotive HMI developers, and so it was also for the partners of the ELVIIS project ( released on Feb. 23, 2012.

When Volvo Cars, Ericsson, Göteborg Energi and The Viktoria Institute started planning their innovative EV infrastructure concept, they needed a new center console HMI for the Volvo C30 Electric that would allow the vehicle users to interact with the many new intelligent features available. Their selection of the Mecel Populus solution for implementing this HMI turned out very well.

"The result looks great, and I have realized that the real key to being able to implement and change the HMI so easily is the underlying architecture of Mecel Populus. We did not have a lot of time for HMI design in the first phase of the project, but we still achieved a good result that we can easily modify and expand with more features as the project goes on." Says ELVIIS project manager at Viktoria Institute, Jonas Didoff.
