Tiverton and Honiton MP Neil Parish has praised the living options for the over 60s offered by leading UK developer Retirement Villages Ltd.
Conservative MP Neil Parish said: “The choices that Retirement Villages give retired people is excellent.”
Mr Parish made the comments during a visit to Gittisham Hill Park, an age exclusive village on the outskirts of Honiton, owned by the company. He was taken on a tour of the village, which incorporates a 30 bed registered care home and 32 independent living bungalows, by manager Carol White and representatives of Retirement Villages Ltd.
Mr Parish then joined residents for a traditional Devon tea with scones and jam, made in the village’s kitchen.
“Gittisham Hill Park offers retired people the independence to live in their own home for as long as they are able,” said Mr Parish. “If they require nursing care then they can move into the home, all situated on the same site.
“The manager Carol White helps provide a very friendly, homely and well managed village for retired people.”
It was Mr Parish’s first visit to Gittisham Hill Park since being voted into Parliament in this year’s election.
Retirement Villages’ Sales and Marketing Director Sarah Burgess said: “We were delighted to welcome Mr Parish to Gittisham Hill Park and to have the opportunity to talk to him about what we, as a company, offer our residents. The Retirement Villages’ ethos of offering residents a home for life with support available when needed is one which is gaining in popularity and I’m pleased Mr Parish was able to see for himself the benefits.”
Mr Parish also spent time viewing the plans for extension work at Gittisham Hill Park which will see the addition of further communal facilities for residents.
