Murder investigation victim formally identified – Cowley

Formal identification has taken place after the death of a woman following an incident in Lytton Road, Cowley, at around 5.11am on Monday (17/6).

The victim has been named as 35-year-old Safie Xheta from Oxford.

A Post-Mortem examination confirmed the cause of death as knife injuries to the neck.

Her family are being supported by specially trained officers and a murder investigation is ongoing.

A man was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where he remains.

The investigation will continue at the scene for a few days to come, we are grateful for the patience of the local residents.

Detective Superintendent Ian Hunter, head of Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Unit, said: “We continue to investigate the circumstances of this incident and are in the early stages however at this time we believe this to be an isolated incident and we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident."
