Newport, South Wales, November 14, 2011 - A strategic alliance between two South Wales-based technology companies, Next Generation Data Limited and Certus IT, has ensured affordable access to world-class managed voice and data communications services to businesses and organisations throughout Wales.

The partnership sees Certus IT, the Newport-headquartered IT consultancy, launch a server storage facility, Certus Data Centre, in conjunction with Next Generation Data Limited’s NGD Europe, which provides high-security server housing worldwide.

Certus Data Centre is part of Next Generation Data’s existing 750,000 square feet facility, NGD Europe, near Newport, and provides secure server storage for companies looking to adopt private cloud infrastructure, reducing the costs associated with housing more traditional server infrastructures in their own offices.

Paul Brown, business development director, Certus IT, said: “In a challenging economic climate we are delighted to be helping local businesses adopt private cloud-based solutions as an alternative to the outright purchase and maintenance of IT hardware and software.

“Cloud computing is already proving appealing to growing numbers of our customers located throughout the UK and, thanks to our partnership with Next Generation Data, we are now hosting our own data storage facility at NGD Europe’s world-class centre on our doorstep. With this addition to our services, we are assured of delivering the very best and most reliable managed IT solutions available.”

Simon Taylor, chairman of Next Generation Data, added: “This partnership fulfils our objective of providing a world-beating data centre environment that can directly benefit businesses in Wales while acting as a magnet for attracting major national and international organisations into the region.”

Certus IT, a leading reseller for such vendors as Dell, Cisco, IBM, Hewlett Packard and Microsoft, is now fully operational at NGD Europe. It also plans to make full use of NGD Europe’s car parking and conference facilities to host regular business computing seminars in conjunction with its vendor partners.

Employing more than 30 staff, Certus IT is the largest specialist IT support company in south Wales, and this new facility is the latest addition to a range of IT services, including virtualisation, advanced storage, backup and disaster recovery and full or partial managed IT support services.

Its clients include Millennium Stadium, Freshwater PR, Broomfield & Alexander, Premier Global, Tenovus and Wilmott Dixon.
