The Nokia Lumia 920 was launched back in November 2012, and quickly became the Finnish manufacturer's most successful device in recent years. The phone has clocked up millions of sales, and achieved widespread critical acclaim, along with winning a number of awards. The handset was recently replaced by the Lumia 925 as Nokia's latest flagship handset, and early reports suggest that the handset is set to be every bit as successful. During the last few months, there has also been news of another high end device in the works from Nokia. The long rumoured Nokia EOS is believed to sport a ClearBlack AMOLED display, aluminium chassis and Windows Phone 8 operating system among its key features. It has recently been reported by uSwitch that the now well-known @EvLeaks has revealed on Twitter that the Nokia EOS will actually be called the Nokia Lumia 1020 when it is released. The source has a proven track record of providing accurate information about unreleased smartphone models, so there is every chance that is will turn out to be true.

In addition, the phone is also expected to sport a PureView camera with a whopping resolution of 41 megapixels and Carl Zeiss optics. A similar camera was used on the company's 2012 PureView 808 model, which ran the Symbian operating system. However, being a Lumia device, the new handset will of course use Windows Phone 8 operating system, and we expect it to be a very popular handset.

Nokia is clearly looking to take on other high-end camera phones, like have recently released Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom. This device sports an upgraded 16 megapixel camera resolution over that of the standard Galaxy S4, along with the addition of a 10x optical zoom and several software enhancements.

Recently sent invitations to a Nokia press event in New York on July 11th include text which reads ’41 Million Reasons’. Clearly, this is a hint that the company will be unveiling the Nokia Lumia 1020 at this event it. Combined with recently leaked images of purported Nokia EOS handsets on the production line, we expect the handset to be released at some point in the summer.

We are sure to hear much more news about the Nokia Lumia 1020 in the coming days, so as usual we will report back to keep you posted on the latest details.
