Back in January, Sony launched the Xperia Z, its latest flagship Android smartphone. The device has been one of the most successful of the year, clocking up over 4 million sales and gaining widespread critical acclaim. Of course, being the flagship phone the Xperia Z has a price tag to match its high-end features, but Sony has been busy releasing a host of more affordable options over the last few months.
One of the latest additions to the Xperia line up is the Sony Xperia M. Sony announced the device a couple of weeks ago, but until recently we have not heard any details regarding by its UK launch date and pricing. However, earlier this week Phones Review reported that the phone has been listed under the coming soon section of the Carphone Warehouse website, which has listed the phone with an August availability.
The website also reports that several online retailers have started listing the device, with a price tag of £227.99 for the SIM free handset. Key features of the phone include a 4 inch display, 5 megapixel camera, 4 GB of expandable storage (via a microSD slot) and a 1 GHz dual-core processor. The Xperia M is set to be launched in four colour variants, which are black, white, yellow and purple, with similar styling to its eye catching Xperia Z counterpart.
While the spec list of the Sony Xperia M is by no means groundbreaking, we think it offers decent features considering its affordable price tag. Of course, networks will also be carrying the device on pay monthly contracts which we also expect to be competitively priced. We're still awaiting details regarding networks and pricing for pay monthly contracts, but more information is likely to be revealed soon, so we will keep you posted when we hear more.
Do you think the Sony Xperia M is an appealing option given
its price tag? Would you consider buying this phone or would you rather spend
