Ready for Easter holiday

News   •   Mar 25, 2015 13:07 GMT

In just a little over a week, traditional Easter treats such as oranges, cocoa and Easter eggs will be enjoyed in Norwegian homes. For others, Easter means a trip to us at Oslo Airport en route to their Easter destination. We are ready for the Easter rush and have some tips for you to make your journey as comfortable as possible.

Allow plenty of time
Time passes quickly when you travel. Take into account the time you need to check in, send special baggage, go through the security check, have a snack, shop and walk to the gate; then plan accordingly.

Passengers travelling with a lot of luggage and special baggage are encouraged to arrive well ahead of time, particularly on Thursday 26 March and Friday 27 March.

“We encourage everyone to travel with minimal hand luggage and to pack as much as possible in suitcases. Also, be careful to pack ski bags, bags and sacks so there are no loose straps,” says Joachim Westher Andersen, media manager at Oslo Airport.

Be prepared
You can help cut the time you spend in the security check queue by preparing while you wait for your turn. Remove your belt, large pieces of jewelry and place things you have in your trouser pockets in your jacket or luggage. Place all electronic and electric items (laptop, tablet, hairdryer etc.) that are larger than pocket size in trays for separate screening.

Liquids must be in containers of 100 ml or less, and these containers must be in a closed, transparent one-liter plastic bag. Only one bag per passenger is allowed. Easter eggs, filled chocolate eggs, oranges and marzipan can all be taken through security. However, the cup of cocoa will have to wait until later.

“There are a number of things that can make your journey easier. You can easily see how long the security check wait is on the OSL app on osl.no, on screens in the Airport Express train or at the security checkpoint. You can also see which gate your flight departs from on the website and in the OSL app,” says Andersen.

Travelling with children
Oslo Airport has a separate family track that makes it easier to go through the security check with children. There are small footprints on the floor for them to follow and security officers who are trained in making the experience as smooth as possible for children. We also have a special breastfeeding nook in domestic departures, several baby-care rooms and play areas with child-size planes in domestic departures, international departures, and arrivals that children can play in while you wait. We are happy to help
If you have any questions at check-in, look for our airport helpers with purple shirts in the departures hall. They are more than happy to help you. In the arrivals hall, Passenger Service is on hand to answer your questions.

Passenger Service can also be contacted via Facebook 24 hours a day. Send us a message in our inbox or on the wall of our Facebook page if you have any questions. www.facebook.com/OsloLufthavn
