In this article I am going to look at one of the most widely reported, and certainly one of the most impressive features of the Samsung Galaxy S3. The S-Voice application is one of the crowning features of the Korean manufacturer's latest flagship Android smartphone.
S-Voice is a voice activated personal assistant app. If you are familiar with Siri on the iPhone 4S, then you will be familiar with the concept of S-Voice. It allows users to carry out various functions and tasks; simply by asking the phone to do so, based on the handset’s built in voice recognition technology. The app can carry out a variety of different tasks based on the native Android apps.
There is a long list of different tasks that S-Voice is able to carry out. It is able to carry out just about every function that you can manually on any of the native Android apps. To activate the app, simply say 'Hi Galaxy'. It will then listen out for your voice commands. This can be a direct order or simply asking it a question. For example, you could ask 'what is the weather like in Paris on Tuesday?’ S-Voice will then use the handset's Android weather app to display the forecast you have asked for. You can also ask it a question, and it will use a search engine to provide the best answer. The app can also be used to dictate SMS and email messages, or enter new events into your calendar and organiser apps to help you stay organised. S-Voice also works seamlessly with other features of the phone. For example you could ask 'where is the nearest supermarket'?. The pap will then work in conjunction with the phone's GPS to locate it and even offer you give you directions.
S-Voice clearly puts the Samsung Galaxy S3 a step above the competition. Due to the popularity of Siri on the iPhone 4S, and now S-Voice, it looks like voice recognition is the future of smartphones. This feature has the potential to greatly enhance one's smartphone user experience, and if you take the time to learn all the functions that you can use it for, it offers many advantages.
Of course, the Samsung Galaxy S3 boasts a long and impressive spec list which includes a 4.8 inch HD screen, 8 megapixel camera and a powerful quad-core processor. Thanks to features like these, it is clear to see why the Samsung Galaxy S3 is such a popular smartphone.
