Samsung Galaxy Nexus vs iPhone 4S

Since the dawn of the smartphone era, it was Apple’s first iPhone that launched the true meaning of a touchscreen smartphone. While there were PDAs and other touchscreen devices before then the iPhone had taken the paltry mobile phone and ramped up the level of coolness that could be extracted from a gadget. Since then all of the other manufacturers have been playing catch up, worse so Nokia who are just getting back on the wagon with their Lumia range. However, Samsung through billions of dollars at trying to claim the mid-level smartphone market and succeeded but have tweaked the irrepressible Galaxy range and launched the Nexus which takes on the big hitters such as the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 4S.

Although die-hard iPhone fans have stuck by the Californian company through different guises and models of the iPhone, including the spin-off iPad tablet PC, but Samsung has been working hard to strip the company of its customers. Now, as Samsung holds more than 50% of the market share these days, it doesn’t tell the whole truth as that’s across tens of smartphone models and devices, whereas the iPhone is simply one handset.

So, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus has to be something really special to take the 30+% market share away from Apple and what a stunning phone to try and do it. The first thing you notice about the Nexus is the size and the beautiful looks. Being Samsung, you just know that it packed with the leading technology that is around and that it’s not going to disappoint.

The main difference of the two phones is the operating systems. Google’s Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 has been causing waves since its release and upgrade from Gingerbread. It’s fast, smart and so easy to use. Compared to the iOS5 it really just depends on your preference. Steve Jobs’ final tweaks to the operating system meant that people fell instantly in love with Apple’s new system but he, just before his unfortunate death, claimed that Google copied all of the ideas in iOS5 and implemented them in the latest Android system. Whatever the truth is, the fact is there is not much between them in terms of usability.

One thing that Samsung wins at is that it’s jam-packed with all of Google’s products from Maps, Search, Google +, Navigation and a lot of other stunning features. It’s hard to argue that Google are one of the biggest companies in the world and their products regularly hit the mark. However, Apple products are just as popular and you’d be silly to think that Google is the only company that comes up with unique ideas.

Looks-wise, the metal case with stunning glass of the iPhone 4S already one many people’s hearts a while ago and even the smart looking Nexus with its shiny plastic and Gorilla Glass is pretty but it’s no iPhone. There is a premium-grade feel and a more upmarket one to Apple’s handset and although it’s more susceptible to cracking the screen (which can be fixed) it wins the beauty contest.

Really, it just depends on your preference and budget. Both are amazing phones that do almost everything for you. All that is left to do is to make sure you get the best deal on either phone and that’s where Mobile Phone Checker can help.
