Samsung Galaxy S5 rumoured again to sport fingerprint scanner and QHD display

News   •   Jan 31, 2014 04:14 GMT

Previously, more details were revealed about the Samsung SM-G900, which is believed to be the Samsung Galaxy S5. The details were leaked on a Korean network operator listing, revealing that device would not sport a QHD display but a display with a 1080p resolution instead. Now, tweets are claiming that the S5 will sport a QHD display as well as a fingerprint scanner.

@evleaks is responsible for tweeting the rumours on Twitter (tweet 1 and tweet 2). Initially, you may not have a clue as to what the tweets mean, since nothing is said. However, if you look closer, you’ll see that the tweets contain APKs, which give us a clue on what features that S5 has to offer.

The first APK is named FingerprintService.apk, which suggests the S5 will have a fingerprint scanner on board. The second APK is named 3DTourViewer_WQHD_K.apk. “WQHD” is short for QHD, which suggests that the S5’s display will sport 2560x1440 pixels of resolution after all.

Since Samsung is yet to reveal any details about the Galaxy S5, treat this information just like any other rumour for now.
