A sign-up page for the Google Nexus 7 has now gone live, which means its UK release date is imminent.

According to Google, “Nexus 7 brings you the perfect mix of power and portability, and features the world’s sharpest 7” tablet screen.

“Sign up today and we’ll give you a heads up when you can get your new Google Nexus 7, on Google Play or at a retailer near you.”

Currently, the 7-inch tablet is being sold in the US, with Google yet to announce the tablet’s UK release date. PC World, however, has jumped the gun and announced the Nexus 7 will be landing in UK shops on the 19th of September.

According to the retailer, the new Nexus 7 will cost £200 for the 16GB variant and £240 for the 32GB variant. This is a bit pricier than its predecessor. Its predecessor had a price tag of £160 for the 16GB variant and £200 for the 32GB variant. Although slightly more expensive than its predecessor, it is still more affordable than the Apple iPad Mini 16GB, which costs £270.

The new and improved Google Nexus 7 comes with a 1080p 7-inch screen, a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 3950mAh battery, a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, and 2GB of RAM. It is powered by Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean), the latest version of Google’s operating system.
