A source is claiming that the Samsung Galaxy S5, the Korean tech giant’s next flagship, will have no bezel and its rumoured fingerprint scanner will be found at the bottom of the screen.
This is according to an anonymous source talking to KoreaHerald. The site reports, “An industry source said Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy S5 would sport a display without a bezel, or the rim surrounding a screen, and allow users to scan their fingerprints at the bottom of the smartphone screen. The phone will also eliminate the home button hardware featured on the previous Galaxy models, he said.”
According to the source, “The finger-scanning technology will be available on the bottom left and right sides, and not the entire display.”
The source adds, “Scanning fingerprints on the entire screen, which was much talked about recently, will be available in the latter half of this year as there are still technological hurdles to overcome.”
Since the biggest smartphone maker in the world is yet to make any official announcement on the S5, treat this like any other rumour for now.
According to reports, Samsung will be lifting the lid on the Galaxy S5 at MWC 2014 at Barcelona, Spain in a few weeks. By then, we’ll get to see if the S5 doesn’t have a bezel and sports a fingerprint scanner at the bottom of the screen.
