Over the past month we have been hearing plenty of speculation about potential smartphone device that have been tipped to make an appearance.  One of the most talked about handsets was the HTC One Mini, a smaller, mid range version of the Taiwanese manufacturers HTC One handset and now the company have officially confirmed the launch of this exciting device.

UK consumers can look forward to an August release of the new HTC One Mini after the new model was officially unveiled by HTC.  As expected the specification on this new phone is slightly lower than what the HTC One has to offer but this was widely expected given that the phone is targeting a much lower price point.  The same premium design however will feature on the handset.  The official specification of the phone does seem to match up with many of the rumours that surfaced about the device prior to it being unveiled.  HTC will be hoping that the handset can capitalise on the success achieved by the HTC One, a phone that they placed great importance on this year.  Speaking about the model the CEO of HTC commented that the phone is "the market-leading smartphone and the HTC One Mini has become part of the best smartphone family in the world".

One of the big attractions for consumers of the HTC One Mini is that the device is a more compact version of the rather large HTC One.  This has been achieved by a smaller, 4.3 inch display being fitted but this is still capable of producing an excellent resolution of 720P.  Not every element of this model has been changed however and the camera facility is identical to its big brother handset.  This means that images are captured at a resolution of 4 ultra pixels   The use of ultra pixels enables the model to capture 300 times more light than many camera devices and makes the phone ideal for photographing in poor light conditions.  The excellent HTC Zoe imaging software is also present on the phone as is the Blinkfeed UI which brings a wealth of social networking content direct to the homescreen of the phone.  1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage feature on the phone while a Snapdragon 400 dual core processor is present clocked at 1.4Ghz.  Find a variety of HTCOne 12 month packages here
