The iPhone 4S Proves A Great Rival To The Galaxy S3

The new Samsung Galaxy S3 is the flagship model in the Galaxy range of smartphones. This new phone was launched a couple of months ago and is the main competitor to the new iPhone 5, when it is finally released. In the meantime however we see how the model shapes up against the iPhone 4S for styling and screen technology.

Both of these two device feature some of the very best screen technology around and it is hard to choose between the two models as to which is best in this area. The iPhone 4S uses the world famous Retina Display which is generally regarded as the perfect example of mobile screen technology. This LED backit display can produce a resolution of 960 x 640 pixels which results in an outstanding pixel density of 330PPI on the 3.5inch screen. This level of density goes beyond what our own eyes can detect and this is where the Retina name came from. Despite this excellent quality many consumer want a bigger screen on the iPhone, something which the new iPhone 5 is sure to deliver. The Galaxy S3 does feature a much larger display than the iPhone 4S at 4.8 inches. This size will make the device popular with gamers and users who want to use their phone to view video content. The screen on the S3 offers a 306PPI pixel density which is thanks to the high 1280 x 720 resolution that it can produce. Samsung have opted for Super AMOLED technology on this screen which offers superb levels of detail and great power efficiency.

When we take a look at design on these two device the Apple phone comes out on top. The iPhone 4S sports a unique and eye catching design which comprises of two sheets of glass with a metallic strip sandwiched between them. This is the second time Apple have used this design as it also featured on the iPhone 4. There are balck and white version of the phone available and it measures an incredibly compact 115.2 x 58.6 x 9.3mm. Despite its small size it is still one of the heavier phones around at 140 grammes but rather than hinder the model this contributes towards it premium feel. The Samsung Galaxy S3 is very different in terms of looks and sports a curved, plastic body which is pleasant looking but not unique in any way. In fact the decision to make this model more curved than other Galaxy devices has simply made it look like a number of other phones currently available. The plastic used on the body does allow it to weigh a very impressive 133 grammes although the material does not feel the most premium when handled. The phone measures 136.6 x 70.6 x 8.6mm with its slim depth being particularly eye catching.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is regarded by many as the ultimate smartphone but the iPhone 4S proves it is still a great competitor by matching the S3 for screen performance and actually offering a more striking design than its rival.
