One of the most impressive smartphones from the current batch of new models is the HTC One X. This new quad core device is packed full of useful features and also boasts an attractive design. There is a new model set to be launched soon however that may quickly become the ultimate smartphone. Although the Samsung Galaxy S3 has not been officially unveiled it is widely expected that the handset will launch in the first half of 2012. We take a look at the rumoured specification of this device and see how it compares to the HTC One X.
The HTC One X is one of the nicest looking mobile devices that HTC have ever launched. The handset measures 134.4 x 69.9 x 8.9mm and weighs just 130 grammes. The model still sports the curved design that HTC have become famous for but it offers a much slimmer profile than previous models and the bezel that surrounds the screen is also very minimal which adds to the appeal of the device. A white version of the One X has also been launched and this colour variant works very well with the design which is pleasing as on many phones the white versions can tend to look cheaper and less impressive. Although we have not seen official shots of the Samsung Galaxy S3 there are numerous leaked shots circulating on the web and these do look very eye catching. The handset looks very similar to the popular Galaxy S2 which will please many consumers. The model is set to boast slightly curved corners and is also set to be one of the slimmest handsets available at just 8mm in depth. Rather than making the handset entirely black like other models in the Galaxy line up Samsung will opt for a two tone finish on this device with a charcoal grey bezel combining nicely with the black bodywork. We also expect a white version of this model to be launched and this will also work very well with the grey bezel. The two models both look superb with slim profiles and attractive designs that will appeal to consumers everywhere.
Both of these two handsets will offer the very latest in mobile screen technology which will make them perfect for a variety of tasks including video playback and web browsing. The HTC One Xuses a 4.7 inch screen which uses the new Super IPS LCD2 technology to help it produce stunning image quality. A very high resolution of 1280 x 720 can be displayed which results in a pixel density of 312 pixels per inch. The capacitive touchscreen supports multi touch input and also incorporates reinforced Gorilla Glass which helps the screen stay in great condition for longer. It is rumoured that the Samsung Galaxy S3 will use a fairly similar setup to the One X in this area. It is expected that the company will opt to use their own Super AMOLED 2 screen technology which offers very bright images with great viewing angles. Resolution is likely to be the same 1280 x 720 standard and speculation also suggests that the screen size of the S3 will be 4.7 inches which means that the pixel density will be identical on both models. If Samsung to choose to launch the S3 with a larger display than this then there will be a subsequent drop in pixel density. When all is said and done there will be very little to choose between the displays that are offered on both of these models. High resolutions and excellent technology will ensure that both models really do excel in this area.
The excellent HTC One X is a great new phone that offers modern styling and a really excellent screen. Although we have not had confirmed specification of the Samsung Galaxy S3 at present we can be sure that it will also offer an eye catching design and a superb AMOLED screen. Expect these models to be two of the leading handsets of 2012.
The HTC One X is available now and the Samsung Galaxy S3 is coming soon.
