Two men arrested following assault in Bootle

Detectives investigating the assault of two men in Bootle yesterday (Saturday 29 June) have arrested two men in connection with the offence.

At 4.55pm, emergency services were called to Litherland Road to reports of a disturbance. Two men, one in his 30s and one in his 20s, were found with slash wounds, which are not life-threatening. They were taken to hospital for treatment. Neither victim is assisting police.

Following enquiries, two men from Bootle were arrested in the early hours of this morning (Sunday 30 June). A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding with intent and possession with intent to supply Class B drugs, found at an address. A 50-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Both have been taken to police stations for questioning. Extra patrols remain in the area today to offer further reassurance and to speak to the community.

Chief Inspector Phil Thompson said: "We have made two quick arrests in connection with this violence, but still want to hear from anyone in the community who has yet to come forward, and we can keep taking quick, positive action."
