UK’s Three Unleashes Blackberry Z10 on Instant Dispatch

News   •   Feb 26, 2013 07:10 GMT

Just a few weeks ago, Blackberry Limited unveiled its latest mobile operating system, the Blackberry 10, specifically made for their smartphone and tablet handheld line. With the announcement of this newly unveiled operating system, the Canada-based company has also unleashed two Blackberry 10 devices: the Z10 and Q10, with the Blackberry Z10 already taking some regions by storm.

The Blackberry Z10 is the first of the two devices officially made available to the buying public. It is a 4.2-inch touchscreen smartphone that features multi-touch gestures based on the concept of direct manipulation user interface that includes tap, swipe, pinch and reverse pinch. It also claims to be able to share internet connection with up to eight devices using its mobile hotspot functionality. The device also features an 8-megapixel rear camera with auto-focus with a 1080p video capture and a 2-megapixel camera on the front. But its biggest selling point is its camera app TimeShift, which lets the user dial back in time on certain photos taken to reduce pictures of people that have a slightly awkward face (like blinking or talking mid-shot).

Both UK and Canada got the first dibs on Blackberry’s latest device and software while US will still have to wait for a few more weeks before even getting a glimpse of the real thing. Meanwhile, British and Canadians customers can now place an order for the Blackberry Z10 via mobile carrier Three, which offers instant dispatch of the handset.

As per Three’s order page, the device is available at £34 per month with an upfront cost of £69. This includes the Ultimate Internet 500 plan which provides users with unlimited data use, 500 minutes talk-time and 5,000 SMS messages and for an additional £2 per month, they will even throw in The One Plan that gives extra 2,000 minutes talk-time, another 5,000 SMS messages and 5,000 Three to Three minutes in the unlimited data for a two-year contract. Though, no prices are released for purchasing the handset outright.

Despite rumours and doubts circling on the reports of the device’s early success, it certainly appears that Blackberry is heading in the right direction this year. And with the Blackberry Q10 release still on the wings, it looks like Blackberry will have a very good first quarter, indeed.
