Helpful tips for smooth travel

The busy summer holiday travel season is soon upon us. To make your trip more enjoyable, we have prepared a short guide to help travellers who are not familiar with Oslo Airport.

There are a number of things you can do even before you arrive at the airport that will make the rest of your travel experience easier. By downloading our app you can find vacant parking, receive alerts, view the webcam from the security check and overview map. You can also pre-book parking via our website so you are guaranteed parking at the best price.

If you plan to use public transport there are several options: NSB train services, the Airport Express train and a number of bus routes. Travel time by train from the Oslo S station is about 20 minutes. Give yourself plenty of time as traffic can vary from day to day. This affects how quickly you get through check-in and the security check. Please note that departure time is not the same as gate closure time. You should also be aware that many gates are located some distance away from the security checkpoint or after the passport control. As for when you should get to the airport, we refer to the recommendations of the individual airlines and encourage everyone to have plenty of time.


At the airport
Once you have arrived at the airport it is important that you keep an eye on your luggage at all times. Unfortunately, thefts do occur in the departures hall. To simplify the check-in process, use the self-service bag drop. Here you can scan the luggage tag yourself and send the bag. Remember that the luggage must be under 20 kg and special baggage must be brought to the oversize luggage counter.

A separate family lane has been set up to provide a better travel experience and ensure a steady flow through the security check. The lane can be used by families travelling with children under 12 years of age. The family lane is marked for the time being with a yellow balloon that is easy to spot.
Because we want to make it easy for you to find your way around the airport, we have set up information kiosks at key locations. While much of the content is the same as you will find in the app, the kiosks can also calculate the time and distance to your desired destination in the terminal.

In order to reduce the noise level we have stopped making "final boarding calls" for passengers. That means that passengers have to check the app and screens to make sure they are at the gate on time.

Services
When you arrive at the airport and start your holiday you may need a number of things. Whether its getting something to eat, shopping, working or relaxing, Oslo Airport has plenty to offer. Follow our website, as a new concept catering to children’s travel will soon be announced.

If you bring an empty water bottle through security, you can refill it at several locations. You will find two water stations immediately after the security check. In domestic departures, you can also refill water bottles by gates 15, 19B, 19E and 20. In international departures, you can refill water bottles outside the women's and men's restrooms down the stairs by the Duty Free check-out aisles and by gate 43. All of the water stations are marked.
If you need currency, DNB has two branches, one in the arrivals hall and the other after you pass through the security check. In addition, there are several ATMs after the security check.

Oslo Airport has a baggage service where you can leave your items for a period of time for payment. It is located in the same place as the lost and found office, which you can contact if you are unfortunate enough to lose something in the airport or on the aircraft.
A passport is often required if you are travelling out of the country. If you have lost or forgotten your passport, the police can issue you an emergency passport in the arrivals hall.


Practical information
Catching up on what's happening and sending a greeting before take-off is important to many. We therefore offer two hours of free Wi-Fi. Simply connect to the "Airport" wireless network and follow the instructions. We have installed up to 600 new outlets so access to charging is now is very good.
